If you offered me the chance to fly anywhere tomorrow – to do anything – I would trek deep into the African forests for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to encounter the elusive and endangered Mountain Gorilla. It is one of my long held life ambitions. And as it becomes more affordable I’m edging ever nearer my goal. Now my good friends – adventure tour specialists Africa-in-Focus – are highlighting the ‘green season’ in Uganda and Rwanda during the lush upcoming month of November.
Not only is this the perfect destination for avid nature lovers and photographers wanting to capture the incredible lush, green landscape, prolific birdlife and, of course, the great apes! What’s more, the package I’ve detailed below includes a… HUGE saving of £250/$400 pp!
Africa-in-Focus’s photo safari adventures combine incredible overland experiences with photographic workshops and trips along the way. What’s more, they are one of the few African photo safari companies who provide their clients with the opportunity to download their digital photos to the vehicles’ on board computer.
Encounter Gorillas During ‘Green Season’ This November – Save £250/$400
For intrepid nature-lovers, Uganda and Rwanda in deepest Africa offer a feast for the senses whatever the season. What’s more, these awe-inspiring countries are soon to enter their ‘green season’ – a short rains period in November which showcases their natural landscapes at their most lush and fertile, with flowering plants and trees and prolific birdlife. The green season also makes for excellent photography conditions, with rains tending to be quick and heavy before clearing to blue skies – ideal for capturing scenery.
Africa-in-Focus is offering a 14-day Africa overland photography tour from Nairobi, Kenya to Kigali, Rwanda from just £1,395/$2234 per person (saving £250/$400 per person). Valid for travel on 14 November, the price includes all ground transport, camping and cooking equipment, the services of a crew, entry to all parks and attractions and activities including a game drive in the Nakuru National Park, a chimp trek in Uganda’s Kibale National Park, a river cruise in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, a gorilla trek in Rwanda and a tour of its capital city, Kigali (worth approximately £795/$1273 pp in total). En route, enjoy a mixture of wildlife, local culture and stunning landscapes, from Africa’s Rift Valley with its spectacular wildlife to the banks of the world’s longest river; the Nile, while the photo safari teaches how to compose and capture a photograph, about colour theory and the themes and moods in photography. There is also the chance to take part in additional workshops exploring night photography, abstract photography, and learning to take panoramic and sunset/sunrise images. Flights, transfers/taxes, visas, the hotel in Kigali and local payments* (£350/$560pp) excluded.
